FMCI Kankanady Campus Radiates the Spirit of Christmas with Joy, Unity, and Compassion
The Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), Kankanady Campus, celebrated Christmas with immense joy, warmth and festive splendour on 19 December 2025, bringing together faculty, students, staff and members of the public in a vibrant atmosphere of peace, unity and togetherness. The celebration stood as a beautiful testament to the true spirit of Christmas—love, sharing and compassion beyond all boundaries.

Prof. Ganesh Sanjeev, Registrar (In-charge), Mangalore University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his thought-provoking address, he highlighted the unifying power of festivals in India, emphasising how such celebrations nurture pluralism, harmony and collective joy. Drawing a powerful metaphor, he remarked that only when stained glass is cleaned can one see clearly—likewise, when prejudices clouding our vision are removed, the world appears brighter and more humane. He urged the gathering to refrain from unhealthy comparisons based on religion, caste, or individual achievement, reminding everyone that each person is unique and that coexistence rooted in wisdom, not destruction, is the need of the hour.

The programme was presided over by the Director of FMCI, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, who, in his presidential address, reflected deeply on the essence of Christmas as a season of giving, love and compassion. He beautifully described Christmas through its many “C’s”—cakes, cookies, crib, candle, cradle and above all, Christ—urging all to be people who care, forgive and strive for peace, truth, justice and love. Emphasising that wealth is entrusted to us only as custodians, he reminded the audience that it is in giving that we truly receive. Calling upon everyone to “be a Christ to all,” he encouraged living the spirit of Christmas every day of the year.

The celebrations were enriched by a colourful and meaningful cultural programme, with various Father Muller institutions presenting vibrant performances. Highlights included a speech and hearing presentation by Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing; melodious English and vernacular carol singing by Father Muller Medical College Hospital; a touching Christmas play by Father Muller College of Nursing; energetic Christmas dances by Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences and Father Muller College of Pharmacy; a value-based thematic skit by the staff of FMMCH; a captivating dance drama by Father Muller College of Nursing, Thumbay and the much-awaited arrival of Santa, bringing smiles and cheer to the gathering.

The programme was meticulously organised by Rev. Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator, FMMCH, with logistical support from Rev. Fr William Dsouza, Assistant Administrator, FMMCH and efficient coordination by Chitra Yatindra, Quality Control Manager, FMMCH. The celebrations also featured the ceremonial cutting of the Christmas cake by the Director and the Chief Guest, the release of the FMCI Calendar and the Father Muller Homoeopathic Production Division Calendar and the unveiling of the Annual FMCI Christmas Bulletin.

Nearly 2,000 spectators gathered to witness the celebrations, as carols filled the campus with melodies of hope and joy. The enactments depicting the birth of Jesus deeply touched hearts, while the value-based skit promoting the Father Muller Plastic-Free Campus Initiative received special appreciation. Spot game winners were awarded plum cakes, and all attendees were delighted with freshly prepared seasonal plum cake, adding sweetness to the festive occasion.

The programme was gracefully concluded by Valerie Ann Lobo and Manisha, Lecturers and Counsellors from the Department of Psychiatry, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences, who eloquently brought the Christmas celebration to a meaningful close—leaving behind memories of joy, unity and renewed hope.
