S.C.S. Hospital Celebrates International Nurses Day with Gratitude and Compassion

S.C.S. Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 with great enthusiasm, warmth, and heartfelt appreciation at the hospital premises on May 12, honouring the unwavering dedication and compassionate service of nurses and frontline healthcare staff. The celebration turned into a memorable occasion as doctors, administrators, staff members, patients, and guests came together to recognize the invaluable contribution of nurses in delivering quality healthcare and comfort to patients.

The programme was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Lolita S.M. Dsouza, Principal of S.C.S. College of Nursing Sciences, Mangaluru. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the noble role of nurses in the healthcare system and emphasized the importance of patient care, compassion, empathy, dedication, and effective infection control practices in the nursing profession.

She praised nurses for their tireless commitment and selfless service, stating that their compassionate care continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families every day. The programme was attended by Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, Chairman and Managing Director; Rama J. Sorake, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr Shalini S. Rao, Medical Superintendent; Gracamma Antony, Head of the Nursing Department; along with other dignitaries, doctors, and guests.

One of the patients who addressed the gathering emotionally shared her personal experience during her stay at S.C.S. Hospital. Recalling the compassionate care she received, she spoke about the reassuring presence, kind words, and sleepless nights spent by nurses caring for her throughout her hospitalization. She described it as an unforgettable experience that touched her life deeply.

In his address, Clinical Director Dr Chandrashekar J. Sorake reflected on the evolving world of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and technological advancements in healthcare. However, he stressed that no machine or technology can ever replace the human qualities of compassion, empathy, and emotional care that nurses bring into the lives of patients.

Adding colour and joy to the celebration, talented staff members showcased their musical skills, creativity, and humour through cultural performances, making the event lively and memorable.

International Nurses Day at S.C.S. Hospital has always been a cherished occasion dedicated to appreciating the hard work, sacrifice, commitment, and healing touch of nurses and healthcare associates. The celebration once again served as a heartfelt tribute to the silent heroes whose continuous service brings hope, comfort, and healing to countless lives every day.
