Women’s Day celebrated at Mogarnad church

On the occasion of the 250th Jubilee Anniversary, Women’s Day was organized to celebrate and appreciate the ladies of the Parish. The event emphasized the spiritual and moral upliftment of the community, focusing on family unity and collective well-being.
The Women’s Day event was held on March 30, 2025, at 9:30 AM, with the Holy Mass and the offering of the Holy Eucharist by Father Alwyn Dcunha. Father Naveen Prakash Pinto also participated in the Mass. The event was attended by men and women from all over, with special attention given to guiding and assisting them.
The Women’s Day celebration took place at the Deva Matha Community Hall. Gifts were distributed to all women in the morning as a token of appreciation and both men and women were congratulated and praised for their efforts during the event. A special performance of an action song was presented by Priya and Melvita to entertain the gathering. Priya Dcunha managed the event’s coordination with great diligence.
Satish Fernandes welcomed all the participants and the event also featured an insightful presentation by Dr Shannon Fernandes, Associate Professor at Father Muller Hospital, Mangalore. Dr Fernandes shared valuable information about women’s health, focusing on topics such as breast cancer and overall health improvement. Dr Rithesh Dcunha also conducted a session on blood pressure and sugar testing to improve the community’s health.
Prashanth and his team entertained everyone with fun activities, bringing joy to all the attendees. Benedetta Dsouza, a skilled worker in the agriculture department, was honoured with a prestigious award for her excellent work. Salomi Dsouza was recognized as an outstanding writer by the Konkani Sahitya Academy of Karnataka and Sonalia Dsouza was recognized for receiving state-level qualifications in pole vaulting, handball and high jump in school-level sports. Delicious food was served to all attendees.
An “Ideal Woman” competition was held to recognize exemplary women in the community. Irene Rebello, the guest of the day, conducted the “Best Woman of the Day” competition and appreciated all participants for their hard work and contributions. The event also celebrated various regional achievements, with spiritual and cultural activities reflecting the essence of unity, progress and development.
The competition highlighted the talent of women from various zones and prizes were distributed at the end of the day. The event concluded with a thank-you note from Vinola Sequeira, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the program.
