Padua PU College Students’ Council Inauguration & Talents Day 2025–26

The Students’ Council Inauguration and Talents Day of Padua Pre-University College for the academic year 2025–26 was held on 3rd July 2025 at Saint Sebastian Hall Bendur Mangaluru. The dignitaries were given a ceremonial welcome and escorted to the dais by Harshitha, a State-level NSS RD Camp participant.

The programme commenced with a soulful invocation by the staff members. Very Rev. Fr Walter Dsouza, Correspondent of Padua Institutions, presided over the event. The Chief Guest was Leslie Noel Rego, noted businessman, actor and organizer. The Guests of Honour included: Prof. Sushmitha S. Kotian, HOD, Journalism & Mass Communication, Srinivas University. Prof. Vinod Dsouza, Vice-President, Bendur Parish Pastoral Parishad & Associate Professor, AJIET Patsy Britto, Secretary, Bendur Parish Pastoral Parishad. Also present on the dais were Rev. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, Principal and Campus Director; Praveen Rai Kukkuvalli, Staff Coordinator and Anitha Rodrigues, Staff Representative, who welcomed the gathering.

The Students’ Council was officially inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the oath-taking ceremony led by Rev. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo. The newly elected council members pledged their commitment, with Deepti Roshni Dsouza, the College People Leader (CPL), expressing her gratitude and promising to work for the welfare of all students. Leslie Noel Rego and Prof. Sushmitha S. Kotian assigned responsibilities to the council members, while Patsy Britto and Prof. Vinod Dsouza handed over duties to the class representatives. In his address, Rego emphasized the role of vision and perseverance in achieving success, encouraging students to dream big and never give up, sharing inspiring anecdotes including one of merchants who endured adversity in the Arabian desert.

Prof. Kotian, in her message, highlighted that education is a way of life, not just a path to employment. She praised the Padua faculty for their dedication and urged students to read, follow their passion, act responsibly and contribute to society. The Talents Day was inaugurated with the unveiling of trophies, symbolizing a celebration of student achievements. In his presidential address, Very Rev. Fr Walter Dsouza remarked, “Leadership is not about positions or titles, but about bringing out the best in others.” He encouraged students to embrace values that lead to true success. Principal Rev. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, in his message, stated, “Leadership nurtured in college leads to leadership in society,” and quoted, “All of us are gifted, but only a few open the package.” He wished the cabinet members a fruitful tenure. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Cauvery T.B., Lecturer in Political Science. Loretta Anthony, Lecturer in English, compered the programme.
