Bandhutva Christmas Program Celebrates Unity, Harmony and Interfaith Fellowship

Bandhutva Christmas Program was organised at the Infant Mary Church Hall, Bajjodi, on Sunday, December 21, at 10.30 a.m., bringing together people from different religions and walks of life to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

Several religious and political leaders participated in the programme and conveyed messages of peace, love, harmony and unity. Capt. Brijesh Chauta, Member of Parliament, in his address said that though people belong to different religions, they are all Indians. He said Christmas invites everyone to live in harmony, friendship and unity, and wished all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

D. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, said that India is a vast country with many religions, yet India—especially the Karavali region—is a model of progress, prosperity and unity. He appealed to everyone to live in harmony despite differences and extended Christmas greetings.

J.R. Lobo, Ex MLA said Christianity gives a strong example of forgiveness, tolerance and harmony. He said Jesus was born to spread the love of God and wished everyone the blessings of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, Principal of Padua College, expressed happiness at seeing people of all religions gathered for the celebration. He said such programmes help inculcate good values in children.

Rev. Sr Lilly Pereira, BS, Provincial, conveyed Christmas greetings and prayed that the feast may bring unity and prosperity. Ivan Dsouza, MLC, also wished everyone a Happy Christmas.

The programme began with a welcome by Rev. Fr Dominic Vaz. Franklin Monteiro introduced the programme, and Janet Dsouza proposed the vote of thanks. Around 250 people from different religious communities—Hindus, Muslims and Christians—participated in the programme, which concluded with a fellowship meal.
