Vanamahotsava Celebrated with Green Spirit at Saint Agnes High School Mangaluru

Saint Agnes High School Bendoor Mangaluru celebrated Vanamahotsava, the festival dedicated to honouring Mother Nature, with great enthusiasm and environmental awareness. The programme highlighted the importance of protecting nature and inspired students to become responsible stewards of the environment. The celebration, organised by the students of Class 10 B, commenced with a meaningful prayer service invoking blessings for Mother Earth. A graceful welcome dance set the tone for the event, expressing gratitude for the beauty and abundance of nature. Reeshal extended a warm welcome to the Headmistress, teachers, staff and students.

One of the highlights of the programme was a thought-provoking skit based on the historic Chipko Movement, which conveyed a powerful message on the urgent need to protect trees and conserve the environment. The students also presented an elegant dance celebrating the beauty, richness, and significance of nature, while sharing their reflections on today’s environmental challenges and the collective responsibility to preserve the planet for future generations.

A second skit, set in a classroom, reinforced the message that environmental conservation is not solely the responsibility of the government but a duty shared by every citizen. Addressing the gathering, Headmistress Sr Gloria A.C. encouraged students to plant more saplings in their homes and neighbourhoods and to care for them with dedication, reminding them that every tree planted today contributes to a healthier tomorrow.

Jasvi proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of Class 10 B, expressing sincere gratitude to the Headmistress, teachers, staff, and fellow students for their encouragement and wholehearted support. The programme was gracefully compered by Melrina and Avil, whose confident anchoring added charm and vibrancy to the celebration.
