Faith Meets Wellness – LSSL Mangalore Diocese Hosts Inspiring Health & Spiritual Enrichment Programme

The Ladies Social Service League (LSSL), Mangalore Diocese, organised a meaningful Health and Spiritual Enrichment Programme – “Recollection Day” on the theme “Overcoming Health Issues with the Word of God” at Sambram Hall, Saint Anthony’s Ashram, Mangaluru, on Thursday 23rd July. Held from 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., the programme brought together nearly 100 women representing various LSSL units across the Diocese for a day of prayer, reflection, health awareness, and spiritual renewal.

The programme began with an opening prayer, followed by a warm welcome by Flany Dsouza, President of LSSL, Mangalore Diocese, who also compered the event. She welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, office bearers, and participants, setting the tone for an enriching day.

The event was inaugurated by Rev. Fr J. B. Crasta, Director of Saint Anthony’s Ashram, who invoked God’s blessings and encouraged participants to deepen their faith while giving equal importance to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. LSSL expressed its gratitude to him for his constant guidance and for making Sambram Hall available for the programme.

Delivering the keynote reflection, Rev. Fr Praveen Amrith Martis spoke on the theme “Overcoming Health Issues with the Word of God.” He emphasised that faith, prayer, and God’s Word are powerful sources of strength, hope, and healing, encouraging everyone to place their trust in God while facing life’s challenges.

The health awareness session was led by Dr Sharon Rasquinha, Consultant Gynaecologist, who highlighted the importance of women’s health, preventive care, regular medical check-ups, healthy lifestyle choices, and early diagnosis in ensuring long-term well-being.

Adding another dimension to the programme, Dr Zeena Flavia Dsouza (Ph.D.) delivered an insightful session on emotional well-being and holistic health. She shared practical strategies for managing stress, building emotional resilience, and integrating spiritual values into daily life to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

A solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist formed the spiritual highlight of the day, offering participants an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and thanksgiving while reinforcing the programme’s central message of faith, hope, healing, and holistic wellness.

The programme concluded on a spiritually uplifting note, with participants expressing appreciation for the inspiring sessions that successfully combined health awareness with Christian faith, leaving them enriched both spiritually and personally. The interactive sessions received an overwhelming response, with participants appreciating the valuable spiritual reflections and practical health guidance shared by the resource persons.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Saritha Lobo, Secretary of the Main Unit, who expressed sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr J. B. Crasta, Rev. Fr Praveen Amrith Martis, Dr Sharon Rasquinha, Dr Zeena Flavia Dsouza, the organising committee, volunteers, and all the participants for their wholehearted support in making the programme a meaningful success.

The programme concluded with breakfast and lunch, fostering fellowship among the participants. The Health and Spiritual Enrichment Programme reaffirmed LSSL’s commitment to promoting holistic well-being by integrating faith, health awareness, and Christian values, empowering women to serve their families, parishes, and society with renewed confidence and commitment.
