Faith, Fun and Fellowship Mark ICYM Cordel’s ‘Gadyanth Udkana 2026’
Mother Teresa Ward Crowned Overall Champions in a Day of Unity, Fun and Fellowship

The ICYM Cordel Unit successfully organised “Gadyanth Udkana 2026”, a vibrant parish sports and games festival that brought together children, youth, adults, married couples, and senior citizens of Cordel Parish. Held on August 2, 2026, the event fostered unity, sportsmanship, and fellowship among Parishioners through a wide range of recreational and competitive activities. The day commenced with an exciting series of games, including Bombing the City, Running Race, 4×100 m Relay Race, Sack Race, Bottle the Water, Food Relay, Mystery Lock, Balloon Race, Cup Balance, Reverse Run, Lemon Spoon Race, Three-Legged Race, Povli Vodche, Volleyball, and Tug of War, with enthusiastic participation across all age groups.











The inaugural ceremony was graced by Rev. Fr Loyd Rohan Dsouza as the Chief Guest. Also present were Ruth Castelino, Vice President; Anil Dsa, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; and the Bethany Sisters. The programme was compered by Isha Jovita Saldanha, while Jovita Dsouza delivered the welcome address. Sharing the Wisdom of Words, Rev. Fr Loyd Rohan Dsouza encouraged participants to nurture unity, healthy competition, and community spirit. The programme was formally inaugurated with the unveiling of the event poster by the dignitaries.












The games were efficiently coordinated by Pradeep Misquith, while the Volleyball Tournament was conducted by Naveen Mascarenhas and the Tug of War competition by Ivan Dcunha. The smooth execution of the sports events was ensured by Manjunath and Pradeep, whose efforts contributed significantly to the success of the programme.




















The valedictory programme was compered by Sweedal Angelica Dsouza. Sherwin Hance Dsouza, Sports Secretary of the ICYM Cordel Unit, welcomed the gathering, while Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes delivered an inspiring Wisdom of Words, encouraging participants to uphold the values of teamwork, discipline, and Christian fellowship. The vote of thanks was proposed by Jayden Joseph Dcunha, President of the ICYM Cordel Unit.


As a mark of appreciation, parishioners who had rendered dedicated service towards the successful organisation of the event were felicitated for their valuable contributions. The programme concluded with a colourful prize distribution ceremony, where Mother Teresa Ward emerged as the Overall Champions, while Our Lady of Pompei Ward secured the Runners-up Championship.

“Gadyanth Udkana 2026” concluded on a high note, strengthening the bonds of friendship, promoting sportsmanship, and celebrating the vibrant spirit of the Cordel Parish community.
