SCS HOSPITAL MARKS 39 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND CELEBRATIONS
SCS Hospital celebrated its 39th Hospital Anniversary with great enthusiasm, combining a memorial scholarship programme in honour of late Sorake Chandrashekar with staff recognition and colourful cultural performances. The celebration highlighted the institution’s enduring commitment to healthcare, education and service to society.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge, hope, wisdom and service. The dignitaries present included Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, Chairman and Managing Director of SCS Hospital; Dr Chandrashekar J. Sorake, Clinical Director; Rama J. Sorake, Chief Administrative Officer; and Yoga Rathna Gopala Krishna of Delampady Yoga Foundation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Jeevaraj Sorake emphasised the vital role of education in shaping the future of young people. He urged students to remain focused, disciplined and sincere in their academic pursuits and to make the best use of the opportunities available to them. He encouraged them to build successful careers and grow into responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to society.

Highlighting the spirit behind the scholarship initiative, he expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would one day extend similar support to less fortunate students. He stressed that education should not only empower individuals but also inspire them to uplift others, creating a lasting chain of kindness and social responsibility.
Rama J. Sorake, Chief Administrative Officer, spoke about the importance of scholarships and the responsibility that accompanies such assistance. She encouraged the recipients to pursue their education with determination, gratitude and a clear sense of purpose. Emphasising that true success lies beyond personal achievements, she urged them to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Reinforcing the message that “Service to humanity is service to God,” she called upon the students to cultivate compassion, integrity and a spirit of generosity. The scholarship programme served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of supporting young minds and enabling them to pursue their aspirations with confidence. The distribution of memorial scholarships was one of the major highlights of the celebration, reflecting SCS Hospital’s commitment to educational empowerment and community welfare.

The anniversary celebrations also recognised the enthusiasm and sporting spirit of hospital staff members who had participated in various games and sporting events organised by the institution. Prizes were distributed to the participants in appreciation of their active involvement, teamwork and dedication. The programme concluded on a vibrant note with colourful cultural performances presented by hospital staff, showcasing their artistic talents, creativity and camaraderie. The presence of doctors from across Mangaluru further added to the significance of the occasion.

The 39th anniversary celebration was more than a milestone in the hospital’s journey. It provided an opportunity to reaffirm the values that guide the institution — healthcare that heals, education that empowers and service that touches lives.
Through its memorial scholarship initiative, staff recognition and cultural celebrations, SCS Hospital underscored the importance of combining professional excellence with compassion, community engagement and social responsibility. The occasion concluded with a sense of pride, gratitude and togetherness, celebrating not merely 39 years of service but also the lives touched and opportunities created along the way.
