Diocese of Mangalore YCS Elects New Executive Committee at Annual General Body Meeting 2026-27
The Young Catholic Students (YCS), Diocese of Mangalore, marked the beginning of a fresh chapter of youth leadership with its Annual General Body Meeting and Election for the year 2026–27. Held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Urwa Church Hall, the event brought together young delegates, animators, and spiritual directors from across the diocese. The inaugural ceremony commenced gracefully with Aashna Dsouza compering the event. Ryan Mendonca, the outgoing President of YCS Mangalore Diocese, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, while Crystal Lopes proposed the vote of thanks for the initial segment.



Annual Magazine ‘Yuvatare’ Released:
The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Benjamin Pinto, Parish Priest of Urwa Church. To mark the occasion, Fr Pinto officially released Yuvatare, the annual YCS magazine, celebrating the literary accomplishments and local youth initiatives of the diocese.
Addressing the students, Fr Pinto delivered an inspiring message on leadership, reminding the youth that through dedication, commitment, and hard work, even an ordinary individual can rise to become a great leader. Quoting former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he urged the students to “dream big” and emphasized that true leadership is rooted in teamwork. He noted that the newly elected leaders would shape the future trajectory of the Mangalore Diocese and wished them immense success.






Special Session on Future Careers:
A key highlight of the day was an enlightening session titled “The Future of Jobs – How Work Will Evolve Over the Next Five Years,” led by resource person Jeevan Lobo. He provided the students with valuable insights into the rapidly changing corporate landscape, technological advancements, and emerging career horizons. Lobo emphasized that alongside technical knowledge, developing leadership, strong communication, and essential life skills is vital to face future global challenges confidently.





Felicitation of Outgoing Leaders:
The program also recognized the dedicated service of outgoing student leaders. Amica Frank, who completed her term as a National Executive Committee (NEXCO) member, and Venus Wilfred Lewis, the outgoing Regional Treasurer, were formally felicitated. Janet Pinto, the Diocesan Coordinator, introduced the duo, highlighting their selfless contributions, leadership qualities, and unwavering commitment to the YCS movement.





Valedictory and Oath-Taking Ceremony
The closing ceremony was graced by Mithesh Dsouza as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dsouza noted that leadership forms the bedrock of any successful organization. He urged the new office bearers to lead with humility, responsibility, and a deep spirit of service.
Following the address, the newly elected Diocesan Executive Committee for 2026–27 took their solemn oath of office, pledging to serve the Church, society, and the YCS movement with utmost sincerity.


The entire program was presided over by Rev. Fr Roshan Dcunha, Director of YCS, Diocese of Mangalore. Delivering the concluding vote of thanks, Fr Dcunha expressed his deep gratitude to the chief guests, the resource person, delegates, organizers, and the Urwa Parish community for ensuring the grand success of the event. The day concluded on a high note of hope, unity, and a renewed commitment to youth empowerment.
