Saint Philomena College Puttur Marks International Democracy Day with Human Chain Event
Puttur, September 15, 2024: In a powerful display of solidarity and civic engagement, freedom, equality and brotherhood, as the essence of Democracy, Saint Philomena College, Puttur, observed International Democracy Day by organizing a Human Chain event outside the college premises (NH 275). Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, along with teaching faculty, administrative staff, and a large number of students participated in the event.
As part of the event, Rev. Dr Monteiro administered a Democracy Day Oath, emphasizing the importance of democracy, unity and civic responsibility. The participants stood united as hundreds of students actively took part, representing various college bodies such as the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Rovers and Rangers, Youth Red Cross Society and the Performing Arts Unit.
Vice Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Coordinator Dr Malini K., coordinators from various units also played a significant role, including NSS officers Dr Chandrashekhar K. and Pushpa, Rovers and Rangers coordinators Khalander Shereef and Shreeraksha, Youth Red Cross Unit Coordinator Dr Dimple J. Fernandes and Administrative Office Head Rufina D’Souza were also present on the occasion.
